Shoya Sakamoto

Tohoku University, Japan

Region:

Asia and Pacific

Field:

Spintronics

Presentation title

Spin-torque diode effect in a non-collinear antiferromagnet

Shoya Sakamoto is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Materials Research (IMR), Tohoku University, Japan. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Tokyo in 2018 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University (2018–2019). Prior to his current role, he was an Assistant Professor at the Institute for Solid State Physics (ISSP), the University of Tokyo, from 2019 to 2025. Initially trained in synchrotron spectroscopy, Dr. Sakamoto now heavily focuses on spintronics research, spanning thin-film growth, device fabrication, and electrical and optical characterizations. By integrating synchrotron measurements with spintronic device research, he seeks to microscopically unveil novel spintronic phenomena. Currently, his research emphasizes non-collinear magnets and their exotic properties for future spintronic applications.
