Field:

Spintronics

Presentation title

Orbital transport and relaxation in thin films with variable disorder

Min-Gu Kang is an Assistant Professor at the Frontier Research Institute for Interdisciplinary Sciences (FRIS), Tohoku University, Japan. He received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from KAIST in 2022 and conducted postdoctoral research at ETH Zurich from 2022 to 2026 before joining Tohoku University in April 2026. His research focuses on spintronics and orbitronics, particularly the generation, transport, and relaxation of nonequilibrium orbital angular momentum and the electrical control of order parameters in thin films and heterostructures. By connecting quantum materials physics with nanoscale device engineering, he aims to advance the understanding of nonequilibrium transport and expand the scope of orbitronics toward energy-efficient electronic and quantum devices. His honors include the ISAMMA 2026 Young Researcher Award, the ETH Career Seed Award (2024), and the KAIST Excellence Doctorate Thesis Award (2023).
