Presentation title

Two sides of spin to charge interconversion: from topological insulators to layered magnetic materials

Sofia Ferreira Teixeira is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at CIC nanoGUNE, Spain. She has a BSc (2015) and MSc (2017) in Physics from the University of Porto, Portugal, where she discovered her interest in exotic materials and nanotechnology. She completed her PhD (2022) at the University of Porto in collaboration with Imperial College London, United Kingdom. During her doctoral studies, she focused on topological insulator heterostructures for spintronics, receiving several recognitions such as the Distinguished Student from the American Physical Society, APS. Nowadays, she works with layered magnetic and low symmetry materials for spintronics devices. Besides her research, she has always been active in scientific organisations, from Founder and President of the University of Porto’s Physics Society, PhysikUP (2016), to Vice-President of the International Association of Physics Students, IAPS (2018). Currently, she is a Career Mentoring Fellow of APS and the Young Officer of the European Magnetism Association, EMA.
